Son of woman strangled in 1989 says her double jeopardy killer is 'hoodwinking' the release panel in his release bid

William Dunlop, 63, told his fourth parole review that his son's recent death means 'I totally get it now' about his victim's family's pain. Julie Hogg's mother, Ann Ming, 80, said she 'wanted to scream' at the remark. Kevin Hogg, 40, called it 'scripted' and asked where that empathy was when Dunlop lost his father. Mr Hogg said the family must accept he will eventually be freed.
Dunlop admitted feeling 'euphoric' for about 30 seconds after killing the 22-year-old.
He further told the panel that, had he remained free, he would have gone on to kill or carry out serious violence.
Three justice secretaries have blocked Parole Board recommendations to move him to open prison.
