Southport killer is to face trial over alleged boiling water attack on guard, but his lawyer raises fitness doubts

Axel Rudakubana, 20, is accused of throwing boiling water mixed with sugar through his cell door hatch at a Belmarsh officer on 8 May last year. His barrister Rabah Kherbane said a report is being drafted on whether he is 'fit to participate' in a trial. Kherbane noted he is already serving a minimum of 52 years. Lawyers will discuss whether to prosecute at all.
Rudakubana allegedly threatened to 'soak' a female officer if she didn't hand him a newspaper.
Sharpened stone shards, allegedly prised from his cell floor, were found under a shelf.
He arrived from Broadmoor accompanied by three nurses and said nothing in court beyond confirming his name.
