Axel Rudakubana, 20, also faces charges of punching a male officer and keeping sharpened stone shards hidden in his cell. The hot water was allegedly hurled through the hatch of his cell door on May 8 last year. Two days earlier he allegedly threatened to 'soak' a female officer unless she passed him a newspaper. He is due to appear by videolink at 2pm before Judge Mark Lucraft KC.

The alleged boiling-water attack has resulted in a charge of attempted grievous bodily harm.

The stone shards were allegedly prised from his cell floor and stuck under a shelving unit.

Rudakubana is serving life for murdering Alice da Silva Aguiar, Bebe King and Elsie Dot Stancombe.
