Spanish officer carries woman through Oliva floodwater on his back as Storm Adam kills at least four

The Guardia Civil also rescued the woman's family and their dogs from their flooded home in Oliva. Storm Adam dropped up to 700 litres of rain per square metre across parts of Valencia within 24 hours. In Oliva, fatalities included a 79-year-old woman found dead at her home and a man whose fatal heart attack occurred at a campsite. Government representative Pilar Bernabe said security forces carried out more than 400 rescues.

Around 800,000 people were told to remain indoors as the storm peaked.

Ibiza's main airport shut twice, with 27 flights cancelled and 16 diverted.

'Some people have lost everything all over again,' said Els Poblets chef Javier Fornez.
