Squatters occupied abandoned BrewDog pubs after the collapsed craft beer chain's administrators were forced to spend money on security and court proceedings to evict them, directly cutting the funds available to creditors. Administrators AlixPartners have confirmed there are insufficient funds to pay 484 former employees nearly £489,000 in wage arrears and accrued holiday pay, six months into the winding-up process.

Tilray bought the BrewDog brand and 11 bars for just £33 million in March after the firm collapsed with debts topping £500 million, leaving 200,000 crowdfunding 'Equity Punk' investors with worthless shares.

Staff were told they had lost their jobs in a 15-minute online call, a move Unite branded 'morally repugnant'.
