St Andrews rector who accused Israel of genocide is banned for seven years over bullying but calls it 'utter nonsense'

Stella Maris, the outgoing rector of the University of St Andrews, leaves office on Saturday when her three-year term expires. Following an independent investigation that upheld five bullying complaints brought by a senior university official, she has been formally censured and banned from campus until October 2033. University Court determined that her conduct — described as "unprofessional and aggressive" — was grave enough to justify dismissal, but opted for a censure letter instead in light of her impending departure.
Maris had previously emailed students accusing Israel of genocide, sparking outrage among Jewish students.
The court also found that her behaviour had frightened staff and student representatives at the students' union, leaving them in distress, during an incident in July.
Maris dismissed the seven-year ban as "utter nonsense" and accused the university of harassment.
