Stepdad 'sexually fixated' on student, 19, smirks after a jury convicts him of her murder in three hours
Carla Georgescu, whose body was found at Ribble Hall on what would have been her 20th birthday, was allegedly killed by Nathan Owens, driven by a "dangerously entrenched sexual obsession" with her.
Nathan Owens, 34, of Hartlepool, made a nocturnal 100-mile drive to Preston, where he strangled Carla Georgescu at Ribble Hall during a 'violent sexual assault'. Her body was discovered on February 5, her 20th birthday. Owens concealed himself beneath a blanket to avoid CCTV and declined to testify. He had made recordings of himself engaging sexually with a life-sized effigy of her. Sentencing is scheduled for tomorrow at Preston Crown Court.
Owens was captured on camera shopping at Asda within hours of killing his stepdaughter.
Carla had been planning to fly to Romania to meet her boyfriend for the first time.
Lancashire Police said Owens had stolen a life Carla 'had ahead of her'.
