Stephen A Smith defends four-hour White House dinner with Trump and Bill Maher: 'He didn't run from any questions'

Only months ago, in June, President Donald Trump branded Stephen A Smith a 'low IQ individual' and 'dumb as a rock'. On Thursday the ESPN star was breaking bread with him at the White House, where he raised funding for black colleges. Trump insists Smith and comedian Bill Maher 'like Trump' in private. He also says they put on 'a certain little facade for their people'.

Kid Rock called the dinner 'epic' and said all four agreed socialism has 'no place' in government.

Maher raised the war in Iran and bringing home Afghan interpreters who helped US troops.

Trump took his guests on a tour of the new ballroom, with beams going up overhead.
