Steven Soderbergh steps in to finish 'The Batman Part II' as Matt Reeves deals with a 'family matter'

Oscar-winning director Steven Soderbergh will take over the remaining weeks of principal photography on 'The Batman Part II' while Matt Reeves steps back to address an ongoing private family matter. Having admired the first film, Soderbergh reached out directly to Reeves and volunteered his assistance, and Warner Bros. has confirmed the two directors will collaborate closely to preserve Reeves' original vision. Robert Pattinson's eagerly awaited sequel had been shooting in London since June before production was briefly paused.
Reeves stressed he is not departing the project, writing on X: 'I am profoundly grateful to Steven for coming to my aid during this challenging time.'
Soderbergh said his goal is to 'generate footage that will integrate seamlessly with what's already been shot so Matt can properly finish his film.'
When filming concludes, Soderbergh will hand full control back to Reeves, who will oversee post-production remotely from home.
