Fallen trees are bringing widespread travel chaos to commuters across London and the South East, with thousands of homes cut off amid Storm Austen's arrival — including 2,241 vulnerable households among the 6,980 properties affected in Cornwall alone. A red warning covers Guernsey and Jersey, while Devon and Cornwall are under amber for gusts of up to 80mph. Forecasters also issued a 'danger to life' warning for sea fronts and coastal roads. Storm Boelo is set to batter Northern Ireland, Scotland and northern England this weekend.
Fallen trees blocked Southern lines between Haywards Heath and Three Bridges, and Lewes and Brighton.
