More than 82,000 homes are left without power as Storm Boelo batters Britain with 84mph gusts and floods
Two pedestrians were pulled from collapsed scaffolding on Streatham High Road in south London at 1.30pm on Sunday and taken to hospital. In Largs, North Ayrshire, floodwater swamped the Thai restaurant Tha-Tien-Thai, whose staff posted: 'There is nothing left.' The Met Office has warned of danger to life from flying debris. Its amber warning runs until 9pm, and rail passengers have been told not to travel.
The storm hit just one day after Storm Austen had already battered the UK.
Trafalgar Square's Diwali on the Square was cancelled because staging could not be built safely.
Households left without power for more than 24 hours could claim £90 in compensation.
