Student who stabbed his housemate 30 times and then ate pizza and played video games admits murder mid-trial

Zack Coughlan, 23, changed his plea to guilty at Bristol Crown Court after telling jurors he feared Jamie Collins, 21, would kill him. Wearing a mask, he waited in ambush and attacked Collins in an alleyway behind their Filton home on 8 April. The entire attack was recorded on CCTV that Coughlan had set up himself. Eight hours passed before he called 999, and he will be sentenced for murder on Wednesday.
Both men were final-year robotics students at UWE, living in a house Coughlan owned.
He fled on Collins' bike and dumped his bloodied clothes in a pond, weighed down with bricks.
Jurors heard he rewatched the footage of the killing five times.
