Students pay tribute to flying instructor, 80, who died with a boy, 16, in a Loch Lomond plane crash
Known as 'the Flying Haggis', the veteran pilot once trained RAF Scholarship students and later flew air taxis, air ambulances and traffic 'eye in the sky' patrols. Former students called him 'a gentleman and an experienced aviator'. Their Piper Tomahawk II came down near Drymen, Stirlingshire, on Friday afternoon.
The plane took off from Glasgow Airport at 4.17pm and stopped transmitting 20 minutes later.
The 45-year-old aircraft is registered to Leading Edge Flight Training in Renfrew.
Air accident investigators are examining the wreckage under temporary airspace restrictions.
