Mr Justice Nicklin is to deliver his ruling at 2pm on Tuesday on whether ITN and The Guardian can publish the allegations against the man, known only as PPT. His barrister Sara Mansoori KC told the court he attempted suicide in May after first learning of the claims, and again in July, absconding from secure hospital on the second occasion.

The injunction would block reports of 'inappropriate and exploitative sexual activities with a large number of girls and young women'.

Media outlets approached more than 100 people and heard directly from 30 witnesses, who reportedly said PPT 'abused his status' to pursue girls and young women across a number of years.

Rather than invoking privacy rights, as most celebrity injunction bids do, PPT's legal team relied on Articles 2 and 3 of the ECHR, arguing that publication would put his life at risk.
