An Ebola isolation tent in Nigeria, as the Swiss diplomat's wife — Nigeria's first case in the outbreak — was flown home to Switzerland with 52 contacts still under watch.

Health Minister Muhammad Pate said the woman, Nigeria's first case in the outbreak, was stable, conscious and talking when she left Abuja early on Monday. He warned she could still be infectious, so strict protocols stay in place. Her husband has shown no symptoms and will be monitored by Swiss doctors. WHO Africa director Mohamed Janabi said Nigeria now has no Ebola cases.

Her positive test came after she and her husband travelled to Uganda and returned to Abuja.

Nigeria's first patient and Kenya's both passed through Entebbe airport on 3 October.

Africa CDC scientists are to investigate how the Nigerian case was infected.
