Tate brothers appeal to Miami court for bail as UK extradition fight drags on without a hearing date

Andrew and Tristan Tate have filed a petition in a Miami court seeking bail, contending that holding them without a confirmed extradition hearing date infringes their constitutional rights. The brothers have been held at the federal detention centre in Miami since their arrest in July, after UK prosecutors brought additional charges of rape and sex trafficking offences alleged to have occurred between 2010 and 2017. A US judge last month turned down an earlier bail application, finding they had not demonstrated they were neither a flight risk nor a danger to the community.
Lawyer Joe McBride contends his clients hold American citizenship, have clean criminal records, and have not committed a single disciplinary infraction since July 18.
US Judge Lauren Louis determined last month that the Tates had 'failed to meet their burden' to show they did not present a flight risk or danger to the community.
The extradition hearing has yet to be scheduled, leaving the brothers facing a potentially lengthy spell in custody.
