Tate brothers' lawyers launch judicial review to block UK extradition over Romanian proceedings

Andrew and Tristan Tate's UK solicitors Andrew Ford and Adam Rasul have filed for judicial review to challenge Britain's formal extradition request, arguing the brothers cannot lawfully be sent to the UK while Romanian criminal proceedings against them remain unresolved. The pair have been held in Miami since their arrest in July, facing rape and sex trafficking charges. Ford warned the move would "deprive them of their opportunity to be exonerated" and damage their ability to mount a UK defence.
British prosecutors lodged a formal extradition request with the US State Department earlier this month, which must first satisfy treaty compliance checks before reaching the US Justice Department.
Ford and Rasul made the announcement Thursday night on Piers Morgan's show, insisting Romania's 2024 extradition order was conditional on Romanian proceedings concluding first.
A US judge has already refused the brothers bail while the extradition fight plays out, leaving Andrew Tate, 39, and Tristan behind bars indefinitely.
