A Nottingham taxi driver who knew a passenger's £20 note was fake from the way it felt in his hands skipped the requested address and delivered his fare straight to Radford Road police station, where the man was arrested. The 23-year-old had been picked up on Nottingham Road at 11.30pm on Tuesday 13 October and kept changing his route, prompting the driver to ask how he planned to pay; when challenged, he produced more notes, all counterfeit.

Arrested on suspicion of using counterfeit currency and possessing an offensive weapon on private premises.

Gaskin said police were 'of course happy to help' after the driver's impromptu detour to the station.

Seizing the large military-style combat blade took 'a dangerous weapon out of circulation', according to Inspector Gaskin.
