British teacher fights for her life in Dubai after losing her baby, facing £100,000 bills her insurance won't cover

Zoey Campbell-Lowndes, a teacher from Manchester, was 30 weeks pregnant when she and partner Kevin learned their baby boy had died, before she underwent an emergency Caesarean section in Dubai. Her liver and kidneys are now failing, she has suffered two episodes of internal bleeding requiring transfusions and dialysis, and she is currently in a medically induced coma. Her birth plan insurance covers only emergency care involving the baby — leaving her family scrambling to fund treatment that has already topped £100,000.

Over 1,500 donors have so far raised nearly £80,000 through a GoFundMe, still short of the bills already incurred.

Her family described the ordeal as 'every parent's worst nightmare', grieving a son while fighting to bring Zoey home alive.

The insurance gap — policies covering the baby but not a mother's life-threatening complications — has left the family facing ruin on top of bereavement.
