Teen girl, 15, fatally struck by a garbage truck while riding a Citi Bike had shared an eerie photo falling off one a year before

Daria Serkov, 15, was cycling with a 16-year-old friend on 14th Street and First Avenue in Manhattan's East Village on Friday when a garbage truck making a right turn struck both girls, leaving Daria pinned beneath its wheels. The driver was initially unaware he had crushed her, witnesses said. She was rushed to hospital and pronounced dead; her companion remains in stable condition.

Family friend Christine Janssen said the family were all together at dinner when they received the devastating call about Daria.
