Jack Mellon, 17, sustained fatal injuries during a disturbance on Ashgill Road in the Milton area of Glasgow on Wednesday evening; officers declared him dead at the scene. A 22-year-old man has been charged in connection with the incident and is due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Friday. Police confirmed a murder investigation after a post-mortem examination.

Locals told reporters they were 'heartbroken' and 'scared to let grandchildren out' following the teenager's death.

Detective Inspector Lynn Donnelly said officers 'will have a police presence in the local area' while enquiries continue.

Forensic teams in full-body suits were seen examining the scene as residents described the road 'at a standstill'.
