Ten anti-war protesters, including a 94-year-old lawyer, are arrested after chaining themselves to a car at RAF Lakenheath

Anti-war protesters blocked the entrance to RAF Lakenheath in Suffolk from around 7am, securing themselves to a vehicle in protest at what they described as "illegal wars" involving the US and the UK. Suffolk Police arrested nine people on suspicion of public nuisance, obstruction of a highway and locking on, while a tenth was bailed and the car was seized. The action was timed to coincide with Tuesday's US midterm elections, and protesters also called on the government to close US military bases in the UK.

RAF Lakenheath is the largest US Air Force base in the UK, home to F-35A jets certified to carry the B61-12 thermonuclear weapon.
