Tesco and Sainsbury's 59p tomato soups beat Heinz and M&S in Which? blind taste test

Which? pitted 77 Brits against more than 200 tins in a blind taste test, and the supermarket own-brands thrashed the big names. Tesco and Sainsbury's Cream of Tomato Soup each scored 78 per cent, with tasters saying both soups 'excelled on every measure' with 'perfect creaminess'.
Asda's 59p soup came a close third with 77 per cent, also earning a best buy — while branded rivals cost far more for a worse result.
Heinz, the nation's default tin, was beaten by all three budget own-labels, with Crosse & Blackwell the best of the branded soups at just 76 per cent.
Which? awarded Sainsbury's its 'great value' badge, calling the 59p price tag 'outstanding value' for a soup tasters said had a sweetness and tanginess that was 'just right'.
