'Texas is not for sale': Democrat James Talarico targets Elon Musk in his US Senate race against Ken Paxton

James Talarico, 37, packed the Hogg Memorial Auditorium at the University of Texas at Austin on Friday night. He told students: 'I have a legislative record; Ken Paxton has a criminal record.' He accused the Trump-backed attorney general of serving billionaire donors. One poll puts Talarico ahead by 51 to 47 percent before the 3 November vote.

Governor Greg Abbott warned that losing Texas would leave Republicans with 'no chance ever'.

Paxton told a crowd in Selma: 'We fight for faith, family and freedom.'

Talarico told the rally: 'They may have the money, but we have the majority.'
