Texas mother allegedly stabbed her husband and two toddlers after screaming row the day before

From the Newshound archive · first published 7 October 2026.

Holly Evelyn Flores, 37, was arrested in Northlake, Texas after her husband Justin Hommel, 34, dialled 911 at 4.30am on October 6 to report a stab wound to his head. The couple's three-year-old daughter and 10-month-old son were also found at the family home with stab wounds. All three were taken to hospital and doctors expect them to pull through. Flores has been charged with two counts of attempted capital murder.

A construction worker from a neighbouring site had witnessed Flores the day before, screaming and gesturing wildly at Hommel while he stood quietly holding the baby.

Police had been called to the Hommel residence five times since March over domestic-related incidents before the alleged pre-dawn attack took place.

Flores has given no explanation for the alleged attack, and neighbours, left shaken by the news, said the family had seemed the picture of an ideal suburban household.
