Texas Senate hopeful Ken Paxton took 350 out-of-state trips with a taxpayer-funded security detail costing over $3.1m

Twenty-five of the trips were international, including to South Africa, India and Aruba. Texas law does not require any of them to be official business. Taxpayers paid $13,235 for security at the 2024 Kentucky Derby, where Paxton was pictured with Tracy Duhon, whom he now dates. Democratic rival James Talarico accuses him of using the privileges of office for personal benefit.
