Transport for London has opened an eight-week public consultation on a proposed new Overground route running 18.5 kilometres between Hendon in the north and Hounslow in the south, using freight-only track that has never before carried passengers. The line would connect 10 stations including Brent Cross West, Harlesden, Old Oak Common and Brentford, giving west and northwest London communities direct access to the new HS2 interchange at Old Oak Common.
TfL's Director of Investment Planning David Rowe said the plan would 'make better use of existing rail infrastructure' and 'support growth across west and northwest London.'
The consultation runs from 23 September until 18 November 2026, with materials and responses available via the TfL 'Have Your Say' portal.
