The 82-year-old senator charged over an alleged $5m marijuana empire claims Trump is targeting her

Prosecutors allege Louise Lucas told a business associate 'I've got too old to not be greedy'. That associate allegedly paid her a $100,000 bribe for a future cannabis licence. FBI Director Kash Patel accused her of amassing almost $5 million in 'ill-gotten gains' through The Cannabis Outlet. Her two daughters and grandson are among the seven people indicted, and Lucas denies wrongdoing, vowing: 'I will not back down.'

Lucas called herself 'an 82-year-old great-grandmother' and cited growing up under Jim Crow.

She faces five counts, including drug trafficking, money laundering, fraud and firearms charges.

Lucas has sat in the Virginia Senate since 1991 and has been president pro tempore since 2020.
