The Chancellor is investigating scrapping gas bill standing charges in a move that could save households £108 a year
The pledge came at PMQs as Prime Minister Andy Burnham fought off Kemi Badenoch's attack over the Jackdaw gas field. The Tory leader accused Labour of 'dithering' for two-and-a-half years before approving it. Burnham hit back that the previous Tory government had 'messed up' the process. Chancellor John Healey and Energy Secretary Miatta Fahnbulleh will report back to MPs on the plan.
Badenoch demanded Labour repeal its ban on all new oil and gas licences.
'What we have lost is the confidence to make tough decisions,' Badenoch told MPs.
