Stephen Timmis, 68, and his wife Janet Timmis, 61, of Psalter Lane, Sheffield, are charged over offences alleged to have taken place between May and September 2008 at the Crowded House Church on Sharrow Vale Road. South Yorkshire Police are urging former members of the congregation to come forward, warning they may hold evidence critical to the ongoing investigation. The couple are due to appear at Sheffield Magistrates' Court on 1 December.

The charges relate to a single victim who reported the non-recent abuse to police.

South Yorkshire Police say former Crowded House Church members with relevant information can call 101, quoting investigation number 14/229723/24.

Anyone coming forward is promised 'appropriate support', suggesting police expect more witnesses to emerge.
