The Gentlemen insiders hit back at Meghan's friends, insisting the Netflix show is not in need of 'stunt casting'

Meghan Markle's friends had accused Netflix of leaking her casting talks to prop up a second season they claimed 'wasn't as good as the first'. Debut viewing figures for that season fell by 15 per cent compared with the first. The Duchess of Sussex's talks over a role in the third series collapsed in August amid a fierce backlash. Her camp called it 'the oldest marketing trick in the book'.

Netflix boss Manda Levin fuelled the speculation in August, saying 'All bets are off'.

Meghan reportedly never had a formal offer, just one chat with the casting director.

She is now rumoured for a Suits reunion special reportedly worth about £3.74 million.
