The M27 is closed eastbound for eight miles near Portsmouth after a serious motorcycle crash during rush hour

All eastbound lanes on the M27 between junction 9 at Whiteley and junction 12 for Portsmouth have been shut since around 6:45am after a serious motorcycle crash, with National Highways and Hampshire Constabulary working to release trapped traffic. Delays of up to 20 minutes are building on approach, and drivers are being diverted onto the A27 towards Fareham.

Drivers trapped westbound within the closure have since been released, but congestion continues to build eastbound.

National Highways says efforts are ongoing to free traffic caught inside the closure; motorists are urged to allow extra time, re-route, or delay travel.
