Pentagon files reveal the US war with Iran has cost $47 billion, 25 percent more than Hegseth's July estimate

The $47.1 billion figure, confirmed by US Central Command in an estimate shared with Congress, marks a rise of more than $3.5 billion in just six weeks and exceeds Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth's July figure by over 25 percent. Munitions alone account for more than $29 billion, depleting global stockpiles of critical weapons including Patriot interceptors. The disclosure lands days before the November 3 midterm elections, with the war's energy-cost impact already dragging down Republican approval ratings.
The conflict has cost the average American household $2,000 so far, according to Moody's Analytics.
Trump told a Texas rally on Tuesday the US is 'making an absolute fortune' from the Middle East situation and predicted the war would 'end very soon.'
The estimate excludes damage to US military bases across the Middle East, meaning the true bill is higher still.
