'They cheated us': Trump tells an Iowa rally crowd he 'has the right' to run for a third term

Donald Trump, 80, admitted he had 'studied that phrase forever' and found the constitutional ban 'quite concise' with 'not a lot of wiggle room'. Moments later he insisted the 2020 election was 'rigged' and said that gave him the right to run again. The Sioux City rally was meant to boost Republicans before November's midterms. He also branded Michigan progressive Abdul El-Sayed a 'jihadist'.

The 22nd Amendment says no person shall be elected president more than twice.

Trump also took aim at James Talarico and Ilhan Omar from the Iowa stage.

Trump's approval has hit a record low of 32 per cent among US adults.
