'This is not the end of it': BBC Scotland boss warns more cuts are coming after scrapping its TV channel

BBC Scotland director Hayley Valentine said the saving would be between £1m and £2m and is 'not the silver bullet'. The News at Seven programme will be scrapped when the channel moves to iPlayer next spring. About 10 posts will go on top of 60 job losses announced in August. She called the BBC's finances 'a really difficult financial position'.

Culture secretary Màiri McAllan branded the closure 'unacceptable' and vowed to raise concerns with Ofcom.

The channel launched in February 2019 at a cost of £32million, only seven years ago.

Its launch-night news show 'The Nine' averaged fewer than 46,000 viewers.
