Thousands flock to east London for armoured Lime bike jousting rematch despite the firm warning its bikes are 'not for jousting'

Crazy crowds at the second Hackney Lime bike jousting duel, in a picture posted on X by Isabel Shaw.

Artist Jack Carden and actor Cameron Carnegie-Brown, jousting as Camtholomew the First, drew over 5,000 RSVPs to their Halloween rematch at London Fields in Hackney, raising funds for five charities. The pair wore full chainmail and armour as they cycled at each other with lances, with stewards and health professionals on standby.

Andy Deane, captain of the Royal Armouries jousting team in Leeds with 33 years' experience, declared e-bike jousting 'absolutely a legitimate form' of the sport.

Carnegie-Brown described the moment before charging: 'The second you start pedalling, you forget it all — just ram and hope for the best.'

Content creator Tommy Moore, 28, explained the horse substitution simply: 'Horses are quite hard to source in London.'
