Two 16-year-old boys were arrested after their Renault Megane fled police just after midnight, hit street furniture and drove against the traffic on the A66. One boy pleaded guilty to dangerous and disqualified driving at Teesside Magistrates' Court and will be sentenced in November. The other was bailed on suspicion of intent to supply class A drugs. The August crash killed two on-duty officers and five young men.

A driver who fled officers on Cambridge Road, Middlesbrough, on October 12 is still being sought.

A VW Passat tore against the flow on the A19 near Thornaby at around 1am.

Chief Superintendent Paul Richardson: 'Staggeringly, this has included some driving contraflow on our busiest roads.'
