Douglas Witterick, 45, has been jailed for five years and four months after a 3am rampage at a Godmanchester property in which he bit a man's ear and threatened to stab him. A conversation about friends turned nasty on 25 April when Witterick suddenly branded the victim a 'bully', forced his way into his bedroom and punched him repeatedly in bed, biting his ear and trying to bite his finger.
Witterick handed himself in at Parkside Police Station in Cambridge three days later, on 28 April.
'This was a prolonged and abhorrent attack,' said DS Karolina Olszewska after the sentencing hearing.
Twelve-year restraining order imposed; Witterick had also breached a suspended sentence for earlier actual bodily harm.
