Former BBC Radio 1 DJ Tim Westwood, 68, has been charged with two further historic sexual offences, bringing the total number of charges against him to 17 across nine women. The new charges allege he indecently assaulted a girl aged 16 or 17 in Hammersmith and Fulham in 1991 and sexually assaulted an 18-year-old woman in Wandsworth in May 2004. Westwood pleaded not guilty to his original 15 charges last December and is due to stand trial in January 2027. He is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court at a future date in relation to the two additional charges.

Three of the existing indecent assault charges relate to alleged offences at BBC Studios in 1996, when Westwood hosted Radio 1's Rap Show.

Westwood already faces four counts of rape and nine counts of indecent assault dating back to offences alleged between 1983 and 2016.

Deputy chief crown prosecutor Catherine P Baccas said prosecutors were satisfied there is 'sufficient evidence' and it is 'in the public interest' to pursue further criminal proceedings.
