Tom Cruise's 'Digger' is on course to lose Warner Bros up to $245m in one of Hollywood's costliest ever flops

'Digger', Tom Cruise's environmental satire directed by Alejandro G. Ticket sales collapsed 60 percent in its second weekend, with analysts projecting a final global haul of only around $50m. Cruise, 64, insisted last week that opening-weekend box office was never his measure of success.
The film needs roughly $300-350m just to break even, leaving a projected loss of up to $245m — ranking it among the most expensive commercial failures in Hollywood history.
It marks Cruise's lowest-opening film in nearly 20 years, a sharp reversal after the billion-dollar success of 'Top Gun: Maverick' and the 'Mission: Impossible' franchise.
Critics reportedly dismissed 'Digger' as "an exasperatingly shallow, laborious, self-congratulatory satire", though audiences rated it 74 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.
