Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, known as Tommy Robinson, was detained at an airport by Counter Terrorism Police on Wednesday, with his barrister now claiming the stop was discriminatory. The detention follows a rant in which Robinson declared 'f**k your wars' at Andy Burnham, and came shortly after he posted support for activist Danny Tommo, who livestreamed himself slashing a rubber dinghy in the English Channel. Robinson's account posted: 'They will never stop trying to destroy this man.'
It is the second time this year Robinson has been stopped at an airport — in June, he was detained at Heathrow and had his phones seized under counter-terrorism laws after returning from Russia via Turkey.
Robinson was cleared of a terror offence in November last year after a judge ruled his 2024 Channel Tunnel stop may have been unlawful, criticising officers for targeting him over his 'political beliefs'.
