Sadiq Khan's office has agreed to drop legal proceedings against US tech firm Palantir, conceding that its May decision to block a £50m Metropolitan Police AI contract was "not based on Palantir's values or ethics." Both sides settled on Wednesday without admitting liability, scrapping a full High Court trial that had been scheduled for January. Palantir had sued the Mayor's Office for Policing and Crime after Khan blocked a deal to supply the Met with AI and data analysis tools for criminal investigations. City Hall also acknowledged that a pre-decision statement from the Mayor's spokesperson could have "incorrectly created the impression" that Palantir's values were a factor.

Palantir UK CEO Louis Mosley had accused Khan of leaving the Met 'fighting criminals with their hands tied behind their back.'
