Tory MSP slams Glasgow museum's 'woke madness' after it removes Egyptian mummies over lack of 'informed consent' from the dead

The painted coffin of the priest Nekht has gone from Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, along with a mummified head, hand and foot. Visitors now find a sign saying the remains were removed 'as a mark of respect'. Glasgow Life, funded by SNP-run Glasgow City Council, says this 'reflects contemporary museum practice'. It plans to strip more remains from the St Mungo Museum.

Murdo Fraser: 'Even Egyptian mummies are now being cancelled.'

Mummies had been on display at Kelvingrove since it opened in 1901.

The remains are between 2,000 and 5,000 years old.
