Trina Parks calls Sydney Sweeney a 'wonderful' Bond girl pick after backing her as potential 007

Trina Parks, 79, who made history as the first Black Bond girl playing assassin Thumper opposite Sean Connery in 'Diamonds Are Forever' in 1971, has elaborated on her endorsement of Sweeney, praising her "Hollywood classic kind of style and poise" as a perfect fit for the franchise and arguing that Sweeney "has ownership of her sexual identity." Parks also argued modern Bond films need women who can stand their ground against 007, not simply fall into bed with him.
The reported shortlist for Bond girl also includes Zendaya, Margaret Qualley, Michelle Randolph and Nathalie Emmanuel, with no official casting announced.
Jack Lowden, Callum Turner and Josh O'Connor are reportedly screen-testing for the lead role of Bond himself, with a mystery fourth candidate also in the running.
Parks has previously said the next Bond should be monogamous and that Bond should have to 'prove he is worthy' of his love interest's affections.
