Trump and Melania's matchmaker Paolo Zampolli is ousted as envoy after 'unhinged' email feud with State Department boss
Paolo Zampolli, the former modelling agent credited with introducing Donald Trump to Melania at a New York party in 1998, was removed from his role as special envoy for global partnerships on Thursday after months of email exchanges with Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau became public. Landau had sought to restrict Zampolli's work to cultural diplomacy, and the correspondence was described as 'unhinged'. Zampolli, 56, posted on X that 'the President is always right' and said he was ready to return to 'closing deals'.
In one tense exchange, Landau told Zampolli to 'immediately stop all work on ANY issues not directly tied to cultural diplomacy.'
Zampolli noted that his appointment was for one year, yet Trump had already extended it by more than six months before he was let go.
'President Trump changed my life once,' Zampolli wrote on X. 'He just did it again.'
