Trump-backed Ohio congressman Max Miller loses re-election after his estranged wife's abuse claims, which he denies, overshadowed the race

Emily Moreno, the estranged wife of Republican congressman Max Miller and daughter of Ohio Senator Bernie Moreno, alleged in court filings that Miller burned her with hot water, pressed a gun against her head, and hit her. Miller denied all the claims, but the brutal public custody battle consumed his campaign and he was ousted by a Democratic challenger in Ohio.

The abuse allegations, which Miller contests, became public during the campaign, handing his opponent a devastating campaign weapon.

Miller had the backing of President Trump but could not survive the fallout from the domestic dispute with a sitting senator's daughter.
