Trump calls Stephen A. Smith and Bill Maher 'smart people' after 'epic' White House dinner with Kid Rock

Trump told reporters the Thursday night White House dinner with comedian Bill Maher, sports commentator Stephen A. Smith and singer Kid Rock was "great" and "very informative," adding that Maher and Smith "like Trump" despite their public personas. Kid Rock, who described the gathering as "epic," said all four men agreed that "socialism and communism have no place to have a foothold in our government." The dinner also touched on the Iran war, Afghanistan interpreters, Black unemployment and HBCU funding.

Kid Rock said it was two Democrats and two Republicans breaking bread, calling it one of "so many points, I could do an hour on it."

Trump called the White House itself part of the evening's draw, saying the group toured the ballroom with construction beams overhead.

The dinner came despite Trump calling Smith a "low IQ individual" and "dumb as a rock" in June after Smith criticised his attendance at a Knicks game.
