Trump defends waiving Russia sanctions over diesel deal as Republicans accuse him of 'capitulating' to Putin
President Donald Trump turned on Volodymyr Zelensky, claiming the Ukrainian leader 'doesn't want to end this war, and probably never did'. In a Truth Social post, he blamed Ukraine's strikes on Russian refineries for hurting American farmers and ranchers. He insisted that punishing Moscow now would drive it 'away from the bargaining table'. He also hinted at progress in hostage talks.
Republican senator Thom Tillis branded the sanctions waiver 'beyond irresponsible'.
Congressman Don Bacon warned that Trump was 'prolonging the war, not ending it'.
Trump warned Russia could do more to help Iran 'unless stupid people get in the way'.
