Trump defies court order and vows to close Washington's historic East Potomac golf course for 15 months of renovations

President Donald Trump's Sunday post says East Potomac Golf Course will shut from 15 November, but it never mentions the court fight. Judge Ana Reyes froze the project until at least 26 October. She rebuked officials for felling trees over a holiday weekend with minimal notice. The 106-year-old course near the White House has long been open to Washingtonians of all incomes.

Trump promised 'one of the Best and Most Spectacular Golf Courses anywhere in the World'.

The Justice Department wants Reyes removed, calling her conduct 'nothing short of egregious'.

Trump says the course could host the U.S. Open, the Ryder Cup and the Presidents Cup.
