Abdul El-Sayed, who leads Trump-backed Mike Rogers by two points ahead of Michigan's 3 November Senate vote, hit back after Trump called him a "Jihadist Muslim Brotherhood member" at a Port Huron rally.

'I'm here to keep a Jihadist Muslim Brotherhood member from becoming a United States senator,' President Donald Trump told a rally in Port Huron, Michigan, on Sunday. He said Abdul El-Sayed would be 'the only senator' screened before entering the chamber. El-Sayed has denied any ties to the group. He faces Trump-backed Mike Rogers on 3 November and leads by two points in a Marist poll.

El-Sayed would become America's first Muslim senator if he wins Michigan's open seat.

Rogers accused NBC's Kristen Welker on air: 'You are giving him a pass.'

Trump says El-Sayed wants the country to 'go to Sharia Law'.
